Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is getting some backlash after she offered “condolences” to the family of a man police say tried to stab two people during an altercation at a Chick-fil-A in Boston on Saturday.

The man, who was not named, was killed by an off-duty police officer, per the Daily Wire.

“My condolences and all of our thoughts are with family of the individual whose life has been lost,” Wu said.

According to police, the perpetrator was shot after two people ran inside the restaurant followed by a man with a knife. An off-duty police officer told the man to drop the knife. When the man refused, the officer shot the man, who later died at a hospital.

Bostonians were incredulous that the mayor offered sympathy to the assailant and his family — so much so the started an account on X called “Bostonians Against Mayor Wu.”

Unbelievable. This city cares more about protecting criminals than residents

Fox News contributor Joe Concha commented on the mayor’s words.

“How exactly did Boston vote for this again? I lived in the Back Bay area. It was one of the safest parts of the city. And she’s offering condolences????” he said.

Entrepreneur Joe Lonsdale said Wu’s comments were indicative of deeper issues plaguing the Democratic Party.

“When you vote for the far left, it’s unequivocally a vote for protecting criminals first,” Lonsdale posted. “Progressive-D is a vote for the massive grift machine that weaponizes empathy and naive people to plunder, and hates everything great and noble and successful about our civilization.”

Democrat New York city council member Robert Holden called the incident “madness.”

“Democrats have become the party of criminals. Here’s the mayor of Boston offering condolences to the criminal who was trying to stab multiple people and refused to drop his weapon when ordered by an off-duty cop,” Holden posted. “My party has lost the plot — this is madness.”
