French screen legend Brigitte Bardot is recovering at home after being rushed to the hospital this week with a mystery illness, according to multiple reports.

According to Fox News, the 91-year-old actress underwent minor surgery at Saint-Jean Private Hospital in Toulon and is now “doing well,” her office told AFP, as reported by Reuters.

“The Bride Is Much Too Beautiful” star had treatment at the Saint-Jean Private Hospital in Toulon,” her representatives confirmed.

This is not Bardot’s first health scare. In 2023, the former film star was treated after struggling to breathe during a severe heat wave in St. Tropez.

Bardot rose to international fame in 1956 with the film “And God Created Woman,” which cemented her status as one of the most iconic — and controversial — sex symbols of her era. Known for her on-screen sensuality and off-screen glamour, she appeared in 48 films, recorded dozens of songs, and had high-profile relationships that captivated audiences worldwide.

Throughout the 1950s and 1960s, she collaborated with celebrated directors such as Jean-Luc Godard, Henri-Georges Clouzot, and Louis Malle, starring in classics including “La Vérité,” “Contempt (Le Mépris),” and “Viva Maria!”

Should Brigitte Bardot's health be closely monitored after her recent hospitalization?

In her 1996 memoir, “Initiales B.B.”, Bardot reflected on her three failed marriages and friendships with famous figures including Warren Beatty, Pablo Picasso, Marlon Brando, and Alain Delon.

At the height of her fame, Bardot chose to step away from Hollywood, citing exhaustion and a desire for privacy.

“There was some exhaustion there, not just from the pace of work, but just [being] the endless subject of a camera lens,” said James Clarke, author of Being Bardot, in an interview with Fox News Digital. “She got to that point where it’s just like, ‘I’ve kind of done it and 20 years has been sufficient.’”

Since retiring in the early 1970s, Bardot has lived a quiet, private life in the south of France, remaining one of cinema’s most enduring and enigmatic icons.
