Candace Cameron Bure is receiving support from her daughter after sparking backlash over her recent comments on marriage.
On Tuesday, Natasha Bure posted on her Instagram story to share her “favorite thing[s]” about her mom.
She wrote, “How much she loves Jesus and how firm in her faith she stands.”
The post continued, “She is bold. She is kind. She is so creative and has one of the greatest hearts. I look up to her in many many ways.”
Concluding the post, Natasha Bure wrote, “I love you [Candace Bure].”
Candace Cameron Bure angered critics after she spoke with The Wall Street Journal about joining the Great American Family network after leaving the Hallmark Channel.
“My heart wants to tell stories that have more meaning and purpose and depth behind them,” Bure said.
She added, “I knew that the people behind Great American Family were Christians that love the Lord and wanted to promote faith programming and good family entertainment.”
When asked if she believes same-sex couples will be featured as leads in holiday films, Candace Cameron Bure told the outlet no.
She explained, “I think that Great American Family will keep traditional marriage at the core.”
Her comments sparked strong reactions on Twitter.
Actress Hilarie Burton tweeted, “Bigot. I don’t remember Jesus liking hypocrites like Candy. But sure. Make your money, honey. You ride that prejudice wave all the way to the bank.”

JoJo Siwa wrote on Instagram, “Honestly, I can’t believe after everything that went down just a few months ago, that she would not only create a movie with intention of excluding LGBTQIA+, but then also talk about it in the press. This is rude and hurtful to a whole community of people.”
Siwa’s reaction comes just months after she criticized the “Full House” actress for being the “rudest” celebrity.
