Legendary Beach Boy Brian Wilson died of multiple ailments, including respiratory arrest.
Wilson’s death certificate was released and also lists sepsis and cystitis, along with neurodegenerative disorder, obstructive sleep apnea, chronic respiratory failure, and chronic kidney disease as other causes, per Entertainment Weekly.
Wilson’s family announced his death on X as well as other social media accounts on June 11, IJR previously reported.
“We are heartbroken to announced that our beloved father Brian Wilson has passed away. We are at a loss for words right now,” the post read. “Please respect our privacy at this time as our family grieving. We realize that we are sharing our grief with the world.”
Wilson was 82.
He was known as being part of the Beach Boys group and penned hits such as “Good Vibrations,” “I Get Around,” and “God Only Knows.” He won two Grammys and was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1988 and the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2000.
The original lineup of The Beach Boys was Wilson as songwriter, co-lead vocalist, keyboardist and bass guitarist; brothers, Dennis and Carl Wilson; cousin Mike Love; and friend Al Jardine.
Wilson eventually was forced to deal with mental issues, including depression, being on tour and a rivalry with the Beatles.
Wilson is survived by his seven children. The family includes daughters Carnie Wilson and Wendy Wilson of the group Wilson Phillips.
