Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) blamed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) for the January 6 Capitol riot, according to a new book.
Washington Post reporters Carol Leonnig and Philip Rucker wrote about a phone conversation between Cheney and the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Gen. Mark Milley, about an exchange she had with Jordan as the riot was unfolding.
CNN reported on the confrontation detailed in the book, “I Alone Can Fix It: Donald J. Trump’s Catastrophic Final Year.”
“That f****ing guy Jim Jordan. That son of a b****.… While these maniacs are going through the place, I’m standing in the aisle and he said, ‘We need to get the ladies away from the aisle. Let me help you.’ I smacked his hand away and told him, ‘Get away from me. You f****ing did this,'” Cheney reportedly said to Milley.

Jordan, a defender of former President Donald Trump, said in January Cheney should be removed from her leadership position for voting to impeach him.
“I think she’s totally wrong,” he said.
House Republicans ousted Cheney from her leadership position in May, as IJR previously reported.
“I will do everything I can to ensure that the former president never again gets anywhere near the Oval Office,” Cheney said.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) appointed Cheney to a select committee to investigate the Capitol riot, as IJR reported.
“I’m honored to have been named to serve on the January 6th select committee. Congress is obligated to conduct a full investigation of the most serious attack on our Capitol since 1814,” Cheney said in a statement.
She added, “What happened on January 6th can never happen again. Those who are responsible for the attack need to be held accountable and this select committee will fulfill that responsibility in a professional, expeditious, and non-partisan manner.”
During a CNN interview, Cheney also said she hopes House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) will choose members for the January 6 select committee that are “committed to upholding the rule of law.”
