Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (R) is opening up about how he would use the pardon power if elected president.

The 2024 presidential hopeful joined ABC’s “The View” Wednesday and was asked by co-host Joy Behar, “If you became president would you pardon [former President Donald Trump]?”

“No, no, no, and no,” Christie responded.

He explained, “The reason is because one of the things — as a governor, I issued pardons — and one of the things you have to do is look at the person — the person has to accept responsibility for what they did. Do you think Donald Trump will ever accept responsibility for anything he did?”

“It would be the easiest pardon decision I would ever have to make as president. You don’t accept responsibility — too bad, go to jail,” Christie insisted.

Trump is facing 91 felony charges as he seeks to win the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.

And while polls show he is the front-runner in the race as he leads the pack by roughly 50 points, several Republican candidates have faced questions about how they would utilize the pardon power if they became president.

In December, former United Nations Ambassador and Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley said she would pardon Trump if he was found guilty.

Meanwhile, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) also said he would pardon Trump.

“Because you just, you know, the divisions are just not in the country’s interest,” he insisted during a campaign event.
