Chris Pratt says his faith did not come from fame or success — it came from fear, prayer, and a moment that changed his life forever.
According to Fox News, the blockbuster actor, known for roles in “Guardians of the Galaxy” and “Jurassic World,” spoke candidly on “Fox & Friends” about the premature birth of his oldest son and how that crisis reshaped his relationship with God.
He told Fox News’ Steve Doocy the birth was “very touch-and-go,” recalling the uncertainty and emotion that flooded those early days.
“When you’re in those kinds of moments in your life, there’s a lot of prayer and contemplation,” Pratt said. “That was one of the times in my life where … the tectonic plates in my spiritual life really shifted beneath me, and I emerged from that much closer to God than I was before.”
Pratt has long stood out in Hollywood for openly embracing his faith — something he admits can be difficult in the entertainment industry. But for him, prayer remains a cornerstone of daily life.
He described his mornings as a mix of routine and reflection.
“I do a little prayer time, drink my coffee, try to have a little moment to myself, check in with my wife, and then, you know, the circus usually comes rolling down the stairs, and it’s all that all day,” he said.
Pratt credits his faith not just for guiding him as a father, but also for leading him to his wife, Katherine Schwarzenegger.
“I met my wife in church,” he said with a laugh. “I know you’re not supposed to be checking out girls at church, but I’m only human. And I thought, wow, she’s really cute.”
He recalled picking up his son Jack from the kids’ program that same day, and the two meeting Katherine together. “Rest is history,” he said.
The couple now shares three young children who, Pratt says, still have no idea how famous their father really is. He described a moment at a Malibu coffee shop when Pepperdine volleyball players asked him for a photo.
“[My kids] were looking at me like, ‘Why do those people want to take a picture with you?’ I was like, ‘I don’t know. I think they’re crazy,’” he joked.
Pratt also reflected on his rise in Hollywood, remembering days when he lived out of a van and worked at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. He said those memories help keep him grounded.
“It’s a beautiful thing … to think that I can come home from work incredibly tired, and I just have to imagine where I was 20 years ago and realize that I’m tired from work that I had dreamed of being able to do,” he said.
Now partnering with Hallow, a prayer app, Pratt is participating in its advent prayer challenge for December.
“We’re focusing on Psalm 46, which is, ‘Be still and know that I am God.’ So, bringing stillness to the chaotic holiday season,” he said.
Through career highs, family life, and public scrutiny, Pratt said one thing remains constant.
“It’s such a blessing,” he said of his journey and the faith that anchors it.
