The classified documents case against President Donald Trump is coming to an end after federal prosecutors moved to dismiss an appeal.
The Hill reported a motion was filed by prosecutors in Florida to dismiss its appeal in the Mar-a-Lago case.
The motion follows the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the state assigning a new prosecutor to the case.
The motion needs to be approved by the 11th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, per The Hill.
This prompts the end of an appeal started by former special counsel Jack Smith.
“By moving to dismiss the appeal with prejudice, prosecutors would be barred from relaunching any similar efforts in the future,” The Hill reported.
