Oh, they’re absolutely melting down again. You’d think Donald Trump dropped a nuke on the White House lawn instead of building — brace yourself — a ballroom. Yes, folks. A ballroom. And here come the shrieks from the usual suspects: Hillary Clinton clutching her pearls like the East Wing just became a Mar-a-Lago annex, Chuck Schumer trying to pretend this is some constitutional crisis, and Eric Swalwell… well, bless his heart, he’s always trying his hardest to stay relevant.

Here’s the part they won’t tell you. Presidents have been renovating the White House for decades. Obama upgraded the Situation Room. Biden added a vegan kitchen for Jill’s Pinterest recipes. Even FDR had the place restructured to accommodate his wheelchair — and rightly so. But Trump builds a ballroom, funded mostly by private donations — not taxpayer dollars — and suddenly it’s an impeachable offense?

Let’s be honest. The only reason this has become a story is because it has Trump’s name on it. If it had been Barack Obama unveiling the “People’s Ballroom,” complete with a bronze bust of Michelle in the corner and a carbon-neutral disco floor, CNN would be running a live feed of it 24/7.

But nope. Trump did it. So it’s automatically a “threat to democracy,” a “power grab,” and apparently a “symbol of fascism,” according to one particularly dramatic op-ed in The Atlantic. We’re officially at the point where a new chandelier in the executive residence is apparently more dangerous than the open southern border, collapsing urban economies, or rising crime rates.

And just when you thought Democrats couldn’t get more unserious… here comes Swalwell, running full-tilt into a new level of ridiculous. This genius is now suggesting that tearing down the ballroom should be a litmus test for Democratic presidential candidates in 2028. Yes, that’s right — you’re not a serious progressive unless you promise to destroy a perfectly functional, already-paid-for part of the White House because Trump touched it.

Don’t even think of seeking the Democratic nomination for president unless you pledge to take a wrecking ball to the Trump Ballroom on DAY ONE.

— Rep. Eric Swalwell (@RepSwalwell) October 26, 2025

Can’t make it up.

Oh — and the kicker? After pushing the “burn it down” narrative, Swalwell had to revise his great idea when even his followers on X (formerly known as Twitter, but you knew that) started side-eyeing him. Suddenly, it wasn’t about demolition anymore. Now it’s about renaming the ballroom after Barack Obama, per the creative brainwaves of Senator Ruben Gallego.

So let’s get this straight: it’s an evil monument to authoritarianism… unless we slap Obama’s name on it?

They hate it — but they also want credit for it. They want it gone — but also want to keep it around long enough to paint it blue and call it a win. You can’t follow this logic without getting whiplash.

And let’s not forget, the same folks screeching about Trump’s “ballroom ego trip” had no issue burning through taxpayer billions on overseas wars, border security for Ukraine (but not for Texas), and gender-neutral Latinx outreach programs nobody asked for. That’s “investing in the future.” But a privately funded ballroom at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.? That’s tyranny, baby.

Should Democratic presidential candidates pledge to remove Trump's ballroom from the White House?

And while Democrats were screeching about marble tiles and velvet curtains, the government was lurching toward yet another shutdown, thanks in large part to Chuck Schumer’s obsession with tying military aid to social pet projects. But sure — tell us more about how the ballroom is the real national crisis.

Here’s a fun challenge: next time you hear a Democrat complain about the ballroom, ask them if they think it’s okay to destroy part of the White House — structurally, politically, historically. Isn’t that what they just said was unforgivable? Didn’t they lose their minds when statues were moved or halls were renamed?

Apparently, if the name “Trump” is anywhere near it, all logic gets thrown out with the rose garden clippings.

We’re living in an era where the left is so broken by Trump that they’ll oppose anything he does, even if it’s something they themselves once supported. Hell, if Trump cured cancer tomorrow, they’d accuse him of waging war on the funeral industry.

Democrats won’t admit it, but this is the real reason they’re crying about Trump’s ballroom so much 👇🏾 pic.twitter.com/HrZNIgIzWF

And you can bet your last over-taxed dollar that if J.D. Vance showed up in a tux to host a state dinner in that ballroom next month, we’d get 27 think-pieces on how “white tie diplomacy” is code for fascism.

Welcome to 2025. Where Democrats lose their minds over a chandelier, but stay silent while the country burns.
