A Connecticut couple discovered that an unwanted visitor had ventured into their kitchen.

NBC affiliate WECT News 6 reported that Christine Vannie said as her husband, Bill Priest, headed inside from working outside he found a bear helping itself to food in the kitchen.

The bear reportedly ate an entire bag of marshmallows and other items.

According to the report, Priest was able to shoo the bear out the front door only to find that the animal returned not even a day later.

Priest explained the bear tore the screen away from a door and circled around to the back door when it could not come in through the front, as the outlet reported.

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection is going to attempt to catch the bear.

Priest told NBC Connecticut, “I mean, I don’t care, run around the yard all you want, but now you’ve crossed the line.”

Some of the individuals in the neighborhood told the outlet that they were not shocked by the news.

“Well, it’s scary but I guess not surprising. We see bears here all the time,” Hoang Wood, of West Hartford, explained.

Another resident said, “We’ve seen a lot of deer, bobcats and more. Recently, bears.”

On Monday, the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection posted tips on its Facebook page for residents to avoid attracting bears.

“Bears are attracted to garbage, pet food, compost piles, fruit trees, and birdfeeders. Make your place a ‘No-Bear-Food-Zone,'” the post stated.

Additionally, the department said, “If you see a bear in your yard, do not approach it! Go into your house, garage, or other structure. If the bear persistently approaches, go on the offensive—shout, wave your arms, and throw sticks or rocks.”
