Sean “Diddy” Combs is now set to leave federal prison earlier than expected as he continues his effort to overturn his conviction.
According to the Federal Bureau of Prisons, Combs’ projected release date has been adjusted from June 4, 2028, to April 25, 2028 — roughly six weeks sooner than previously scheduled, per Page Six.
The shift follows his acceptance into the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) in November, a rehabilitation initiative that can reduce an inmate’s sentence.
At the time, a representative for Combs said, “Mr. Combs is an active participant in the Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) and has taken his rehabilitation process seriously from the start. He is fully engaged in his work, focused on growth, and committed to positive change.”
This marks another change to his timeline behind bars. In November 2025, his sentence was extended from May 8, 2028, to June 4, 2028, after alleged rule violations while incarcerated at Fort Dix Federal Correctional Institution in New Jersey.
Reports at the time indicated Combs faced disciplinary action for allegedly consuming homemade alcohol.
He was also cited for participating in a three-way phone call, which is prohibited. Combs said he was unaware that “third-party or three-way calls are not authorized,” while his representative maintained the “procedural call” was “protected under attorney-client privilege.”
Combs has been in custody since his September 2024 arrest. He was charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.
After a two-month trial, he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution and acquitted on the other charges.
In December, Combs filed an appeal seeking immediate release, a reversal of his conviction, or a reduced sentence. Prosecutors opposed the request in February.
His legal battle continues as his new projected release date approaches.
