If you thought the Trump administration was just going to settle in, let the swamp spend itself silly, and call it a day — think again.

Because while Washington has always been the place where your tax dollars go to die, the newly turbocharged Department of Government Efficiency — fittingly nicknamed DOGE — is proving that yes, even the biggest, sloppiest bureaucracy on earth can actually be forced onto a diet. And what they’ve already uncovered is nothing short of jaw-dropping.

In just the past week, DOGE axed 163 wasteful federal contracts — totaling nearly $2 billion in ceiling value, with $647 million in actual taxpayer savings. That’s right, nearly $650 million back in the pockets of Americans instead of being flushed down the bureaucratic drain.

And the stuff they’re cutting? You couldn’t make this up if you tried.

Contracts Update!

Over the last 5 days, agencies terminated 163 wasteful contracts with a ceiling value of $1.9B and savings of $647M, including, a $35M USAID contract to “acquire contractor support to establish and manage a flexible, quick response mechanism supporting… pic.twitter.com/5AdFbO5Dx1

Take the $35 million USAID contract to “acquire contractor support to establish and manage a flexible, quick response mechanism supporting activities that will support democracy and stability in El Salvador.” Translation: shovel millions to some Beltway consulting firm to pretend they’re building “democracy” abroad while Americans here at home are drowning in debt, crime, and inflation. DOGE didn’t blink. Gone.

🚨BREAKING: It’s been found that George Soros got $260M from USAID.

He didn’t use his own funds to undermine the U.S. justice system—he used taxpayer money.

Should DOGE look into this?

Or how about the $280,000 for “horse-mounted patrol grooming services”? I’ll give you a moment to stop laughing. This is literally what your paycheck was funding — federal horse haircuts.

Then there was $179,000 for “customized English language training” at the U.S. Embassy in Armenia. Because apparently the State Department can’t find staff who speak English without a six-figure taxpayer-funded class.

This isn’t efficiency. This is comedy. Except the punchline is always the American people.

But this isn’t just about cutting a few quirky contracts for headlines. This is about a shift — finally — away from Washington’s decades-long addiction to taxpayer-funded nonsense. And it’s not happening in isolation. Remember, Congress already used rescissions authority to defund NPR and PBS — finally yanking the plug on the Corporation for Public Broadcasting after conservatives fought for it for decades.

For years, taxpayers were forced to bankroll two networks that openly sneered at them, mocked their values, and pumped out thinly disguised left-wing propaganda. Now? That $1.1 billion over the next two years is gone. Finished. And the CPB itself? Shutting down.

The left, predictably, is howling. “But…but…Sesame Street!” they cry, as if Elmo is going to disappear because PBS no longer has a direct pipeline to taxpayer dollars. Newsflash: Big Bird will survive. What might not survive is the parasitic relationship between Washington bureaucrats and the media machine that’s been propped up by your wallet for decades.

And here’s the part that really stings for the Democrats: Trump is actually delivering on what he promised. Remember “drain the swamp”? They laughed at him. But cuts like these? This is draining. Not glamorous, not flashy, but brutally effective. Every canceled contract, every penny clawed back, every woke project shut down — it all chips away at the culture of waste that D.C. treats as a religion.

Is DOGE done? Not even close. Insiders are already hinting at another wave of cuts, and if the first round is any indication, they’re just warming up.

So, while Democrats keep chanting about “saving democracy” — in El Salvador, in Armenia, in public radio studios — Trump’s team is over here actually saving American taxpayers billions.

The question now isn’t whether the cuts will continue. The question is: how much more bloat is DOGE about to expose? And when they do, will Americans finally see just how deep the swamp rabbit hole really goes?
