Country superstar Dolly Parton revealed her plans to release new music for her 78th birthday “surprise.”

On Friday, Parton announced she had a “present” for her “fans and friends” on her Instagram page in celebration of her birthday.

“I’m releasing four never released (sic) songs for my birthday, to go with the ‘Rockstar’ album, and a few others that you may have heard before that were not on the album,” she wrote in a post.

She added, “I hope you enjoy them, and I hope you all have a happy birthday for me! LOL.”

She concluded her post by thanking her followers “for everything.”

“Surprise! Stream ‘Rockstar Deluxe’ wherever you get your music,” Parton wrote in the caption.

In an interview with Vulture in 2023, Parton opened up about her longstanding career and revealed which one of her songs she believes has “transformed the country music industry.”

“’Jolene’ and ‘I Will Always Love You’ transformed me and my career. I love what I do and tend to make it look effortless because these things come to me. I’m a workhorse that looks like a showhorse, and I love my work because it’s easy for me to write,” Parton shared.

Furthermore, the Grammy Award winner said, “Nothing makes me happier than being able to have some time to say, ‘I’m taking this week off to write songs.’ Of course I’m going to sing them, of course I want to hear them in the studio, so I’m going to put them down.”

“Not that I wouldn’t be as happy as I am getting to do everything I want to do, but I could be satisfied if I just had the freedom to write all the time. I spend long hours working, but nobody enjoys it more than me,” she explained, adding “I know nobody could ever enjoy it more than me.”

According to BBC, late singer Whitney Houston covered Parton’s ballad “I Will Always Love You” in 1992. The song became a smash hit reaching the top of the Billboard Hot 100 for 14 consecutive weeks.

It is still the best-selling single of all time by a female artist, per the outlet.
