Singer Dolly Parton doesnāt plan on stopping her career of more than 50 years.
In an interview with āGreatest Hits Radio,ā Parton, 77, said sheās ānot one to sit around doing nothingā and admitted she feels āresponsibleā to keep going despite her age.
āI would never retire. Iāll just hopefully drop dead in the middle of a song onstage someday,ā she joked, adding she hopes it will be to a song sheās written.
She continued, āAnyhow, thatās how I hope to go. Of course, we donāt have much of a choice in that.ā
Parton revealed she plans to keep working as long as she can while her āhealth is goodā and her āhusband is good.ā
āI mean, the only way that I would ever slow down or stop would be for that reason. But in the meantime, Iām gonna make hay while the sun shines,ā she said.
Parton also revealed what her plans were for the future.
She shared:
āI have new dreams every day. I want to have my own network TV show where I can actually do a lot of new things and produce and I want to have my own story called āThe Life of Many Colors,ā where I have a whole series of my life, stuff that people havenāt seen or known or heard about and my people where I come from, how Iāve got to be and how and who I am, but to really have the behind the scenes and the adventures of my life.āĀ
Additionally, Parton said she wanted to have her own line of makeup, wigs, and clothes.
āSo those things all come under that ābrandingā which weāre doing so much of now,ā she explained.Ā
Parton continued, āSo, once you get to a certain place in your career, you get a lot of offers and some of them are just a little hard to turn down.ā
