Country music legend Dolly Parton is celebrating a milestone birthday, turning 80 on Monday, Jan. 19, and she shows no signs of slowing down.

According to PEOPLE, the magazine marked the occasion with a special edition, featuring an in-depth interview and profile of the singer-songwriter, whose influence spans decades.

“People say, ‘Well, you’re going to be 80 years old.’ Well, so what? Look at all I’ve done in 80 years. I feel like I’m just getting started,” Parton told PEOPLE in the feature. The 11-time Grammy winner added with her signature humor, “I know that sounds stupid, but unless my health gives way, which right now I seem to be doing fine.”

The country icon has faced recent health challenges that led her to postpone a Las Vegas residency in September, but she reassured fans in an October Instagram video that she’s doing well. “I love you for caring, and keep praying for me,” she said.

Parton spoke candidly about her approach to aging, emphasizing her refusal to dwell on the passage of time.

“If you allow yourself to get old, you will. I say, ‘I ain’t got time to get old!’ I ain’t got time to dwell on that. That’s not what I’m thinking about,” she explained. She added that while turning 80 may not seem like a cause for celebration, she sees it as a moment to reflect on her accomplishments and continued drive.

The “Jolene” singer-songwriter has built a legendary career, with 25 No. 1 songs on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart and 21 gold or platinum certifications from the RIAA.

Beyond the accolades, Parton says her journey has been deeply fulfilling. “I got to see my dreams come true,” she told PEOPLE.

Looking ahead, she remains focused on living fully and embracing whatever comes next. “I don’t know what I’m going to be doing tomorrow. Whatever comes, I’ll give it my best,” she said, embodying the same energy and passion that have defined her career for decades.

Parton’s milestone birthday is not just a celebration of age, but of a life and career that continue to inspire fans worldwide.
