Ed Kelce is speaking out in defense of his son, Kansas City Chiefs star Travis Kelce.
According to Fox News, the 74-year-old took to Instagram to praise his youngest son’s performance this season, highlighting his continued dominance at the tight end position.
“If anyone questions how good Travis is playing; through Week 10 he leads all tight ends in total yardage,” Ed Kelce wrote.
Travis Kelce did indeed lead all NFL tight ends in total yards through Week 10, though he has since fallen to second place after Week 12.
Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride now tops the league in both receptions (80) and total yards (797). Travis sits second with 674 yards, just ahead of Indianapolis Colts rookie Tyler Warren, who has 662 yards.
Despite being 36 years old, Kelce has shown a remarkable resurgence this season. He has recorded 54 catches, four touchdowns, and 674 yards, already surpassing last season’s touchdown total.
Known for his consistency and reliable connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes, the four-time All-Pro and 10-time Pro Bowler continues to prove he remains a vital part of the Chiefs’ offense.
Kelce quickly dismissed retirement rumors following last season’s Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, announcing he would return. Last week, he said he would communicate his intentions to play in 2026 before NFL free agency opens in March, giving the Chiefs time to plan their offseason.
On Sunday, Kelce contributed four catches for 43 yards in the Chiefs’ narrow 23-20 victory over the Colts. The win improved Kansas City’s record to 6-5, though they remain outside the playoff picture.
The Chiefs face a critical stretch in the season if they hope to secure a playoff berth or contend for the division.
Their next challenge comes on Thanksgiving, when they will face the surging Dallas Cowboys at 4:30 p.m. ET, a matchup that promises to test the team’s postseason hopes and Kelce’s continued impact on the field.
