The Atlanta Falcons moved quickly on Friday to part ways with assistant defensive line coach LaTroy Lewis after allegations of sexual violence surfaced just days after his hiring.

According to the New York Post, Lewis, 32, had joined the Falcons on Feb. 10. Hours after the accusations became public, the team removed his bio from its website and dismissed him from the coaching staff.

A report by journalist Justin Spiro states that an anonymous woman accused Lewis of raping and attacking her in separate incidents during his time as an assistant coach at Michigan between 2023 and 2024.

The report said Lewis also sent her graphic messages “commanding her to perform various sexual acts on him.”

The woman further alleged Lewis sent threatening texts that read, “I’m going to f–k you up,” and “I’d f–king kill you! Don’t play with me.”

The Michigan fanboy media has not said one word about this, but they'll gladly break down Zapruder film of every Jeremy Fears Jr. foul at .25x speed. https://t.co/Ct46lY2yeN

ESPN reported that Ann Arbor police are investigating the sexual assault claims.

Should the Falcons have fired LaTroy Lewis after the assault allegations surfaced?

Spiro also reported that the woman brought her concerns to then-Michigan head coach Sherrone Moore, who allegedly dismissed them. Moore was later fired in an unrelated incident.

The Falcons initially said they were aware of the allegations and were gathering information before deciding to terminate Lewis.

Lewis is the latest former Michigan staff member to face legal trouble. Moore has been charged with felony home invasion and stalking in connection with a separate December incident. Former co-offensive coordinator Matt Weiss was charged in March 2025 in a 24-count indictment alleging he hacked into student accounts seeking intimate images.

Lewis played college football at Tennessee from 2013 to 2016 and later had brief stints with the Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders as an undrafted defensive lineman.

He began coaching in 2020 with stops at Akron, South Alabama, and Wake Forest before joining Michigan’s staff in 2023. He later moved to Toledo as a defensive line coach in 2025.

Authorities have not announced any charges against Lewis, and the investigation remains ongoing.
