Dr. Anthony Fauci is sharing one thing that would lead him to leave his job: former President Donald Trump returning to the White House.
On Sunday, CNN’s Jim Acosta asked the infectious disease expert, “If Trump were to return to the White House as president, and Covid is still a threat or there’s some other public health emergency, would you have confidence in his ability to deal with a pandemic of this nature?”
He asked a second question, “Would you want to stay on in your post?”
“Well, no, to the second question,” Fauci responded.
Acosta said, “I think I knew the answer, but I had to ask.”
Fauci continued, “The first question…If you look at the history of what the response was during the [Trump] administration, I think you know, at best, you could say it wasn’t optimal. And I think just history will speak for itself about that.”
“I don’t need to make any further comment on that, Jim. It’s not productive,” he added.

Acosta said, “You would not serve with Trump again. That’s fair to say.”
“Right. For sure,” Fauci affirmed.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the official tally for COVID-19 deaths in 2020 is 350,831.
In Oct. 2020, Trump criticized Fauci and other public health officials and labeled them “idiots.”
“People are tired of Covid. I have the biggest rallies I’ve ever had, and we have Covid,” he said during a phone call with campaign staff.
Trump added, “People are saying whatever. Just leave us alone. They’re tired of it.”
“People are tired of hearing Fauci and all these idiots,” he claimed.
He also said Fauci is a “nice guy” but added, “He’s been here for 500 years.”
