Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) does not understand how some of his fellow senators are not backing U.S. efforts in Iran.

“Every member in the U.S. Senate agrees we cannot allow Iran to acquire a nuclear weapon,” Fetterman said on X Monday morning.

“I’m baffled why so many are unwilling to support the only action to achieve that. Empty sloganeering vs. commitment to global security — which is it?” he asked.

On Saturday, the U.S. and Israel launched strikes against Iran after growing tension between the U.S. and Iran.

Iran then retaliated with attacks on Israel and Gulf states, including Qatar and Saudi Arabia.

During an interview on CBS News’s “Face the Nation” Sunday, Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said “nobody in this country is asking for war with Iran.”

Should the U.S. continue military actions in Iran?

“Just like months ago, no one in this country was asking for war with Venezuela. This president is intentionally tanking our economy. He’s the most corrupt president in the history of our nation, and Americans want him to focus on the crises here at home,” Murphy added.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) called the U.S. military strikes on Iran “a disaster” and “illegal,” saying that “nobody in this country is asking for war with Iran, just like months ago, no one in this country was asking for war with Venezuela.”

Sen. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.) posted on X Sunday that “Americans do not want” U.S. military operations in Iran and that the operations were “not in our national interest.”

The Senate is set to vote this week on a bipartisan war powers resolution that would stop U.S. military action in Iran.

A White House official told The Hill Trump’s “first instinct is always diplomacy, and his representatives worked extensively, and in good faith, to make a deal that would ensure that Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities posed no threat to our homeland.”

“The administration warned Iran that there would be dire consequences if they failed to make a deal. Unfortunately, the Iranian regime refused to engage realistically with the United States,” the official added.
