Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) is criticizing President Joe Biden for not showing what he believes is sufficient support for Israel.

Fetterman spoke with CNN’s Jake Tapper, host of “State of the Union,” about Iran’s attack on Israel over the weekend.

When asked for his reaction to the attack and if he is concerned about a war between the two countries, the senator said, “It demonstrates how it’s astonishing that we are not standing firmly with Israel, and there should never be any kinds of conditions and all that.”

“When a nation can launch hundreds of drones towards Israel, I’m not going to be talking about conditions — ever,” Fetterman added.

He also said he was “here” for Israel’s decision to “smoke” an Iranian general earlier this month.

On Saturday, Iran launched an estimated 300 missiles and drones into Israel in retaliation for the killing of seven Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps officers. Israel has not claimed responsibility for the attack, though it its believed to be behind the strike.

The vast majority of the missiles and drones were intercepted.

After Iran’s attack, the Iranian Mission to the United Nations said, “The matter can be deemed concluded.”

“However, should the Israeli regime make another mistake, Iran’s response will be considerably more severe. It is a conflict between Iran and the rogue Israeli regime, from which the U.S. MUST STAY AWAY!” it added.

Tapper also asked Fetterman about a report that Biden told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu that the U.S. will not participate in an Israeli retaliation.

“I don’t agree with that,” the senator said.

He added, “And I just think we should follow and have Israel’s back in this situation. I don’t agree with the president.”
