Rep. Mayra Flores Knocks Biden’s ‘Disrespectful’ Meeting With Mexican President: He Was ‘Half Asleep’

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 12: U.S. President Joe Biden listens to Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador as they talk to journalists in the Oval Office at the White House on July 12, 2022 in Washington, DC. This is the first meeting between the two North American leaders since Obrador did not to attend the Summit of the Americas last month in Los Angeles because the White House refused to invite leaders from Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. Rep. Mayra Flores (R-Texas) is blasting President Joe Biden over his meeting with Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador.

During an appearance on Fox News on Wednesday, Flores criticized the meeting between the two leaders as she said, ”We should all come together and work for the safety of all immigrants and, of course, innocent children that are being dragged into child sex trafficking.”

”That’s a reality, and I think that that conversation wasn’t had. I mean, Biden was half asleep the entire time, and I find that very disrespectful. I think it’s important to be fully alert in having these conversations that are really impacting all Americans,” she added.

An account on Twitter with the name ”martyparty” shared an image that claimed to show Biden was sleeping during his meeting with López Obrador.

During that meeting, the Mexican president reportedly spoke for over 25 minutes. He said that “a lot of drivers, a lot of Americans are going to Mexico — to the Mexican border — to get their gasoline.”

“We have decided that it was necessary for us to allow Americans who live close to the border…to go and get their gasoline on the Mexican side at lower prices,” López Obrador added.

Biden chimed in to note that in the U.S. gas prices have “come down for a few days in a row.”

This is not the first time observers have accused Biden of falling asleep during a meeting with a world leader.

In Sept. 2021, Biden met with then-Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, and some claimed that the president fell asleep.

However, a Reuter’s fact-check pointed out, ”The videos on social media, however, have been misleadingly cropped: seconds later, longer footage shows that Biden responds to Bennett.”

“The short segment isolated in the posts begins at the 12:42 minute mark. At the 13:14 minute mark, Biden continues speaking, but this has been cut out of the clips in the posts being shared online,” it explained.

Then there was the time in November 2021 when Biden appeared to fall asleep during a summit on climate change.

The president appears to close his eyes and doze off before someone walks over and speaks to him.

Whether or not Biden actually fell asleep during meetings, it’s not exactly good that people are wondering if the 79-year-old leader of the free world is falling asleep in the middle of the day.
