Former Sen. Jeff Flake (R-Ariz.) and dozens of other former congressmen have joined a growing list of Republicans now supporting Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.
On Monday morning, Fox News confirmed Flake had been added to the lengthy list of Former Republican lawmakers now backing Biden.
An official with Biden’s presidential campaign also explained why former Republican lawmakers have distanced from their party.
Like Flake, dozens of other former Republican lawmakers are concerned about the “blatant disregard for moral decency” as they have noted the “urgent need to get the country back on course.”
“These former members of Congress cited Trump’s corruption, destruction of democracy, blatant disregard for moral decency, and urgent need to get the country back on course as a reason why they support Biden,” the Biden campaign official said.
The official added, “These former Members of Congress are supporting Joe Biden because they know what’s at stake in this election and that Trump’s failures as President have superseded partisanship.”
The list now circulating on Twitter includes the names of more than 20 former senators and congressmen from all over the country.

On multiple occasions, Flake has verbalized his disapproval of President Donald Trump’s leadership. Most recently, Flake expressed concern about the QAnon conspiracy theory as he noted how damaging such theories can be for the future of the Republican Party.
“If the GOP wants to be a relevant political force in the future, it cannot endorse those who embrace QAnon and other conspiracy theories,” the former senator tweeted.

The growing endorsement list of former Republican lawmakers now supporting Biden comes less than one week after former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R), former Rep. Susan Molinari (R-N.Y.) and former New Jersey Gov. Christine Whitman (D) delivered speeches at the Democratic National Convention last week
Flake is expected to elaborate on his decision Monday afternoon.
