Fox News host Julie Banderas and former Democratic New York state Sen. David Carlucci sparred Friday over whether President Joe Biden is truly “calling the shots” at the White House.
Biden’s approval rating has hit 34% in the last remaining weeks of his presidency, while a Gallup poll found that just 19% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of the country. Carlucci argued that Biden has made decisions based on whether they are good for the country rather than popularity, while asserting that tech mogul Elon Musk is the true president-elect coming into power.
“You can be pessimistic, you can ask questions and always hope to do better,” Carlucci said. “And that’s what we should be doing, strive to do better. And sometimes these policies and the way that you move forward is not popular. You gotta crack some eggs if you want to make an omelet. And that’s what Joe Biden has done. He has done things that are unpopular with the left, unpopular with the right, but he believes is the right direction for this country … If we’re concerned about who’s calling the shots in the White House, we should stand up and do something about it, because I think we should have concerns about co-president Elon Musk in the White House and others around Donald Trump.”
“No, that’s such a Democratic talking point about Elon Musk,” Banderas interjected. “Come on. I mean, first of all, Donald Trump is not letting anybody take the wind out of his sails. I mean, do you know that guy? He is not going to let Elon Musk come in and make decisions. Just like Biden didn’t let Kamala Harris do a dumb thing in the office.”

Democrats and the liberal media pondered whether Musk is the true person in charge after both himself and Trump came out in opposition to the 1,500 page continuing resolution (CR) bill, which the House of Representatives voted down. Carlucci argued that Musk is a “very talented person” who should have a role in the U.S. government, but that there should be honesty that he is allegedly calling the shots in terms of Trump’s decision making.
“Wouldn’t you want a smart businessman in the office or do you want Kamala Harris?” Banderas asked.
“If we’re talking about who’s calling the shots, then let’s call a spade a spade,” Carlucci argued. “And let’s make sure there’s transparency if we care about that.”
Banderas stated it is unbeknownst to the American people about who is “calling the shots” and making important decisions throughout the Biden administration.
Dozens of those close to the president’s operations told the Wall Street Journal that White House aides and cabinet officials have handled the 82-year-old’s responsibilities throughout his time in office, with some cabinet officials revealing that they met with advisers rather than the president himself. Two of the president’s aides often had to prepare notecards and give him basic instructions and had canceled meetings Biden was scheduled to attend if he had an “off day.”
The president dropped out of the presidential race in July after dozens of Democrats called for his exit due to concerns about his mental acuity and ability to serve.
