Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates gave insight on how becoming a grandfather has caused him to look at the world in a different way.
On Dec. 20, the billionaire wrote a post on his blog “GatesNotes” titled “The future our grandchildren deserve” and revealed because he has become more focused on giving, he knows that he will eventually no longer be on “the world’s richest people” list.
“Although I don’t care where I rank on the list of the world’s richest people, I do know that as I succeed in giving, I will drop down and eventually off the list altogether,” the philanthropist wrote.
He also wrote about how the upcoming arrival of his grandchild, in 2023, caused him to start looking at the world “through a new lens” and inspired him to “help everyone’s children and grandchildren have a chance to survive and thrive.”
“Simply typing that phrase, ‘I’ll become a grandfather next year,’ makes me emotional. And the thought gives a new dimension to my work,” he explained.
I am in awe of people who have dedicated their lives to making the world a more equitable place, and I feel lucky to be able to support their efforts. https://t.co/It4s0WRzH5

Despite having a net worth of 104.3 billion dollars, Bill Gates wrote that being wealthy isn’t what’s fulfilling to him.
“Being wealthy makes my life much more comfortable, but not more fulfilling. For that, I need family, friends, and a job where I work on things that matter. I’m grateful to have all three,” he shared.
In November, Bill Gates’ 26-year-old daughter Jennifer Gates and husband Nayel Nassar, announced her pregnancy in a joint Instagram post.
She posed in a photo with her husband showcasing her baby bump and wrote “thankful” in the caption.
Jennifer Gates’ mother, Melinda French Gates, commented on the photo.
“I couldn’t be more excited to meet this little one and watch you two become parents,” she wrote.
Bill Gates and Melinda French Gates divorced in 2021 after 27 years of marriage.
