Well, it seems the Democrats’ grand plan to reshape Virginia’s electoral map has hit a snag. A state court just tossed their gerrymandering scheme like last week’s leftovers, citing enough procedural blunders to fill a “how not to draft legislation” manual. Talk about a swing and a miss.
Judging by the court’s ruling, it appears they were trying to create a House of Delegates with a lopsided ratio favoring Democrats. Who knew Virginia was becoming an alternate reality where one party could grab nearly 90% of the seats? This trainwreck of a proposal received a strict side-eye from Judge Jack Hurley, who found that the Democrats might as well have held their vote in a dark alley for all the transparency it had.
Let’s not forget our freshly minted Governor Abigail Spanberger, who decided this was a perfect time to remain neutral. Quite the political tightrope walk there! Now Democrats are licking their wounds, plotting their next appeal, and we can only hope that this lack of clarity and prioritization isn’t lost in translation.
Remember, folks, the Constitution is not an etch-a-sketch, and the Virginia courts reminded everyone of that in no uncertain terms. If anything, this ruling serves as a reminder that while some might try to tinker with the rules, the game—much like a good Friday night high school football game—has some rules you can’t ignore.
