Ukrainian first couple Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Olena Zelenska’s Vogue feature sparked backlash.
The magazine tweeted on Tuesday, “‘We have no doubt we will prevail.’ As the war in Ukraine enters a critical new phase, the country’s First Lady, Olena Zelenska, has become a key player—a frontline diplomat and the face of her nation’s emotional toll.”
The thread continues, “For Vogue’s special digital cover story, Zelenska and her husband Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about life in wartime, their marriage and shared history, and their dreams for Ukraine’s future.”

Several Twitter users took to the platform to mock the feature.
One user tweeted, “Ordinary Ukrainians are dying every single day in a war they can’t win while Zelenskyy is busy doing photoshoots for Vogue, accusing his top government officials of treason, and sitting on his mountain of cash from the U.S. government.”
He added, “This is the same thing that has happened in every endless war: Ordinary people suffer while transnational elites get rich. It’s all a giant scam.”

John Kirby, the White House National Security Council’s coordinator for strategic communications, announced last week that the United States would send Ukraine another $270 million in military assistance.
“The president has been clear that we’re going to continue to support the government of Ukraine and its people for as long as it takes,” Kirby said.
Axios noted since the beginning of the Biden administration Ukraine has received $8.2 billion from the United States.
