Rep. Jim Banks (R-Ind.) met with former President Donald Trump after the FBI’s raid of Mar-a-Lago and shared his reaction.
On Tuesday, Banks met with the former president at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster, as Fox News reported.
“He didn’t seem defeated in the least bit — he was very fired up, very upbeat,” Banks told the outlet.
He continued, “It was a great three hour-long conversation about what House Republicans are doing now to win back the majority and what we are going to do with it when we win.”
According to Banks, Trump told the group of lawmakers he has “made up his mind” on a run for the White House in 2024.
“He said we are going to like his decision and it is only a matter of time before he will make that decision known,” Banks said.
Additionally, Banks explained the former president “enjoyed encouragement” from the lawmakers to “get the decision out sooner rather than later.”
Banks continued, “He only helps us win back more seats in November.
The Republican argued the party is “bigger and stronger than ever before because of Donald Trump’s leadership.”
Banks went on to tell Fox News, Republicans “need Trump voters to come out in a big way to grow a historic GOP House majority to then pave the way to win the White House in 2024.”
House conservatives are united in standing with President Trump.

Commenting on the raid itself, Banks said it “unifies Republicans in our outrage,” adding, “If anything, what the left and the corrupt Biden administration has done will only backfire on them, as they see that the American people stand with President Trump.”
The Washington Post reported that Trump’s lawyer said agents took about 12 more boxes of documents after completing their search of the residence.
They had reportedly been stored in the basement storage area.
