A Republican senator is suggesting Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg should face prison time.
In a tweet Tuesday, Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) tweeted, “A Trump indictment would be a disgusting abuse of power.”
“The DA should be put in jail,” he added.

On Saturday, Trump predicted in a post on Truth Social he would be arrested on Tuesday on charges stemming from Bragg’s investigation into alleged hush money payments made to adult film star Stormy Daniels.
However, a Trump spokesperson said in a statement there is no evidence Bragg “has decided to take his Witch-Hunt to the next level. President Trump is rightfully highlighting his innocence and the weaponization of our injustice system.”
Additionally, NBC News reported it was unlikely there will be any developments in the grand jury investigation into the alleged hush money payments until at least Wednesday.
Paul is not the only one who has suggested Bragg should face prison time.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote:
“IT IS THE DISTRICT ATTORNEY OF MANHATTAN WHO IS BREAKING THE LAW BY USING THE FAKE AND FULLY DISCREDITED TESTIMONY (EVEN BY THE SDNY!) OF A CONVICTED LIAR, FELON AND JAILBIRD, MICHAEL COHEN, TO INCREDIBLY PERSECUTE, PROSECUTE, AND INDICT A FORMER PRESIDENT, AND NOW LEADING (BY FAR!) PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE, FOR A CRIME THAT DOESN’T EXIST.”
“ALVIN BRAGG SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE CRIME OF ‘INTERFERENCE IN A PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION,” he claimed.
House Republicans also penned a letter to Bragg insisting that he provide testimony and documents related to the probe.
The letter stated, “You are reportedly about to engage in an unprecedented abuse of prosecutorial authority: the indictment of a former President of the United States and current declared candidate for that office.”
It continued, “If these reports are accurate, your actions will erode confidence in the evenhanded application of justice and unalterably interfere in the course of the 2024 presidential election. In light of the serious consequences of your actions, we expect that you will testify about what plainly appears to be a politically motivated prosecutorial decision.”
“The inference from the totality of these facts is that your impending indictment is motivated by political calculations,” the lawmakers claimed.
In a statement to Fox News Digital, a spokesperson for Bragg’s office said, “We will not be intimidated by attempts to undermine the justice process, nor will we let baseless accusations deter us from fairly applying the law.”
The spokesperson added, “In every prosecution, we follow the law without fear or favor to uncover the truth. Our skilled, honest and dedicated lawyers remain hard at work.”
