With questions about the security at former President Donald Trump’s rally where he narrowly survived an assassination attempt, Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle is facing harsh questions from Republican lawmakers.

A video surfaced on Cheatle in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, at the sight of the Republican National Convention (RNC) on Wednesday, surrounded by a group of Republican senators demanding answers over the apparent security failures that allowed a gunman to take a shot at the former president.

Sen. John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) was seen accusing Cheatle of cutting short a briefing with lawmakers after falsely claiming there were no more questions.

The senator said he is “very disappointed” in her leadership and called on her to “resign tonight or start answering our questions right now.” Specifically, he questioned why Trump was allowed to go on stage at the rally when law enforcement officials had flagged the would-be shooter as a “suspicious” person roughly an hour before the rally started, but lost track of him.

“Resignation or full explanation to us right now!” Barrasso added.

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.) also asked why Trump was allowed to go on stage.

When Cheatle insisted the RNC was not the proper venue to address their questions, Barrasso accused her of hanging up on senators during a briefing.

The Secret Service director then said she was there to thank officials who had helped secure the RNC.

As Cheatle tried to walk away from the group, Barrasso said, “No, no, no, we’re going with you!”

“Don’t walk away from us!” one senator yelled.

Barrasso accused Cheatle of “stonewalling” senators, and Blackburn said, “You owe the American people answers!”

Barrasso added, “You owe answers to the Senate, to the House, to the president!”
