Haley Declares Trump Has Her ‘Strong Endorsement’ in Unifying Speech

Former United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley is making clear that she supports former President Donald Trump.

In a speech at the Republican National Convention (RNC), Haley declared, “I’ll start by making one thing perfectly clear. Donald Trump has my strong endorsement. Period.”

Haley’s speech marks a friendlier tone after she was the last candidate to drop out of the Republican presidential primary and spent the last months of her campaign harshly criticizing Trump.

In March, Haley ended her campaign but declined to endorse the former president.

“It is now up to Donald Trump to earn the votes of those in our party and beyond it who did not support him, and I hope he does that,” she said at the time. “At its best, politics is about bringing people into your cause, not turning them away. And our conservative cause badly needs more people. This is now his time for choosing.”

In May, Haley said she would vote for Trump, but still declined to endorse Trump.

Haley was not originally scheduled to speak at the convention until after the attempt on Trump’s life on Saturday.
