Vice President Kamala Harris insists she is prepared to step into the role of president if she has to.
During an interview with the Associated Press’ Chris Megerian, the issue of President Joe Biden’s age came up.
Megerian noted, “Questions about the president’s age often go hand in hand with questions about how you would step into the role if necessary.”
“Do you feel prepared for that possibility? Has serving as vice president prepared you for that job?” he asked.
Harris responded without hesitation with just one word, “Yes.”

When asked how the job of vice president has prepared her to potentially be president, she stipulated, “First of all, I’m answering your hypothetical. But, Joe Biden’s going to be fine so that is not going to come to fruition.”
However, she added, “Let us also understand that every vice president — every vice president — understands that when they take the oath, they must be very clear about the responsibility they may have to take over the job of being president. I am no different.”
The exchange comes as Biden has faced questions about his age.
Several polls in recent weeks have found a majority of Americans believe he is too old to run for re-election.
