Jamie Harrison is sharing what he would say if President-elect Joe Biden called him about the Democratic National Committee (DNC) chair position.
MSNBC “Morning Joe” co-anchor Willie Geist noted that DNC chair Tom Perez is expected to step away from the role in February.
Asked if the DNC chair would be a job he would be interested in, Harrison told Geist that it is “up to” Biden to select who should take the role. However, he added, “If the President-elect calls my number, then I’m getting into the game.”
“It’s something that I’m interested in,” Harrison continued. “I think I could serve a good job at because I understand the DNC, I understand state parties, and now I have the understanding of what it is to be a candidate for office.”
“If my number gets called, I will definitely step onto the field.”

Harrison is an associate chairman of the Democratic National Committee and ran against Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) in the 2020 congressional election. Graham came out with a victory, despite the race having previously being move to a “toss-up.” Harrison broke fundraising records in his campaign — raising $57 million in the third quarter of 2020.
