Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Saturday shared a candid moment on Instagram and X, saying she found herself “daydreaming” about a nationwide announcement declaring President Donald Trump “gone.”
According to Fox News, Clinton posted a video from her Nov. 18 conversation with historian Heather Cox Richardson and actor Lin-Manuel Miranda at an event titled “History Has Its Eyes on Us.”
“When a fire announcement interrupts the event… You might find yourself daydreaming about a ‘Goodbye Trump,’” Clinton wrote in the post’s caption.
In the video, Clinton imagined a scenario in which a national sound system would broadcast the message to Americans.
“You know what this reminds me of, is that I wish that there could be like a huge national sound system. And, we would all wake up, and they’d say ‘Attention, attention. We have found the problem, and we have solved it, he is gone,’” she said, eliciting applause from the audience.
She tempered her daydream with a reminder that change requires action. “But the reason we’re here tonight is to remind all of us, including ourselves, that that can’t happen unless we make it happen,” Clinton added.
The event benefited Clinton-affiliated groups Latino Victory and Onward Together, which support candidates opposing what she called a “tide of intolerance and cruelty.”
Clinton has been openly critical of Trump since the 2016 election. She recently commented on his ongoing ballroom construction project, writing on X, “It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”
Her latest remarks drew responses from conservatives who revived a 2001 controversy, when she and former President Bill Clinton returned over $28,000 in gifts designated as White House property, as reported by The Washington Post at the time.
Clinton’s comments, mixing humor and pointed political critique, reflect her continued engagement in public discourse and her support for Democratic causes aimed at countering Trump’s influence.
