Kiefer Sutherland’s name surfaced in police logs this week after an alleged late-night confrontation in the heart of Hollywood led to his arrest.

According to Page Six, Los Angeles police say officers were dispatched early Monday following a call reporting an altercation involving a rideshare driver near the busy intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Fairfax Avenue.

By the time officers arrived, they identified the suspect as the veteran actor best known for his roles in “24” and “The Lost Boys.”

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Sutherland allegedly got into a rideshare vehicle and became involved in a physical confrontation with the driver. Police allege that the actor “entered a rideshare vehicle, physically assaulted the driver (the victim), and made criminal threats toward the victim.”

Based on those allegations, officers arrested Sutherland on suspicion of making criminal threats.

Authorities noted that the alleged victim did not suffer any injuries requiring medical attention at the scene, and no ambulance transport was needed.

Booking documents obtained by Page Six show that Sutherland was taken into custody on Monday and held on $50,000 bail. Records indicate he was released later that night at approximately 11:30 p.m. local time.

Should Kiefer Sutherland face consequences for his recent arrest involving a rideshare driver?

The 57-year-old Emmy Award winner is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 2 to address the charge.

The arrest adds to a legal history that has followed the actor for years. In September 2007, Sutherland was charged with driving under the influence in Los Angeles after failing a field sobriety test. He later pleaded no contest to the DUI charge and served 48 days in jail, according to People.

Sutherland also faced assault allegations in 2009 following an incident involving fashion designer Jack McCollough after a fundraiser at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. The case was later resolved after both men released a joint statement.

“I am sorry about what happened that night and sincerely regret that Mr. McCollough was injured,” Sutherland said at the time. McCollough responded, “I appreciate Mr. Sutherland’s statement and wish him well.” Charges were ultimately dropped.

The actor has also dealt with significant personal loss after his father, acclaimed actor Donald Sutherland, died in 2024 at the age of 88. Kiefer Sutherland later described him as “one of the most important actors in the history of film.”

More recently, Sutherland reflected on a memorable day on set with director Rob Reiner during a television special honoring Reiner’s life and work. Recalling the filming of “A Few Good Men,” Sutherland described Jack Nicholson’s legendary courtroom scene.

“No one said a word, and Rob went up to Jack Nicholson and whispered in his ear, ‘Do you want to do another one?’ And Jack Nicholson said, ‘Well, we’re here,’” Sutherland said. “So they did another one, and it was just as extraordinary.”

The current case remains pending as Sutherland awaits his court appearance early next year.
