TUSCALOOSA, ALABAMA - DECEMBER 06: Republican presidential candidate Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis participates in the NewsNation Republican Presidential Primary Debate at the University of Alabama Moody Music Hall on December 6, 2023 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. Fox News’ Laura Ingraham insists Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has “a lot to be proud of” from his campaign.

However, he is not going to win the primary, she said.

During a segment of her show Tuesday night, Ingraham addressed former President Donald Trump’s massive win in the Iowa caucuses, and the future for the two remaining primary challengers.

“Let’s start with DeSantis. He outperformed last night, he beat Nikki Haley’s war chest. So he has a lot to be proud of. As a candidate on the trail, he worked his butt off,” Ingraham said.

She continued, “And people forget how young he is. So with what, three more years as Florida’s governor, he can build an even greater track record of success in that very important state. So a future in the Republican Party for him could be really bright.”

However, Ingraham argued this is not the year for DeSantis to win the presidency:

“He’s simply not going to be president this time around. I know it’s hard to hear, you work really hard for it. It’s not happening. Trump is simply too powerful and has endured too much. Voters aren’t going to turn their backs on him at this point.”

By contrast, she suggested the longer DeSantis continues to campaign and attack Trump, the more it will hurt his future — while not actually damaging the former president.

“So it’s time to step aside and endorse Trump,” Ingraham insisted.

On Monday, Trump easily won the Iowa caucuses with a nearly 30-point margin.

Meanwhile, DeSantis came in second with less than half the votes the former president received.
