The on-again, off-again relationship between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is apparently off again.
The off-again status came to fruition Tuesday as Lopez filed for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court after two years of marriage, per CNN.
The pair’s relationship has been in the spotlight lately after they reportedly been living apart.
Lopez also canceled her summer tour to spend time with family.
They also put their Beverly Hills home up for sale.
The two were married more than 20 years after they first met on the set of“Gigli.”
They were dubbed as “Bennifer” and initially got engaged in November 2002.
That wedding never happened when it was postponed days before it was to take place in September 2003. The reason for the postponement was “excessive media attention” regarding the wedding.
The two officially split in January 2004.
“Bennifer 2.0” came about when they reconciled in 2021.
“You know, one of the things I really value across all facets of my life now is that it was handled in a way that reflected that,” Affleck told The Wall Street Journal in December 2021. “My life now reflects not just the person that I want to be, but the person that I really feel like I am – which is not perfect, but somebody who tries very hard and cares very much about being honest and authentic and accountable. It’s hard to say who benefits more, without going into gossipy detail.”
Lopez gushed over Affleck.
“I feel so lucky and happy and proud to be with him,” Lopez said to People magazine in 2022. “It’s a beautiful love story that we got a second chance.”
They were married on on July 16, 2022, in Las Vegas, TMZ reported. The separation date is listed on court documents as April 26, 2024.
Aug. 20, the date Lopez filed for divorce, marks the two-year anniversary of a second, grander ceremony held in Georgia.
Lopez has two children with ex-husband Marc Anthony. Affleck has three children with ex-wife Jennifer Garner.
