An encounter between an activist and comedian Jerry Seinfeld was anything but funny when the topic turned political.
The Hill reported that the activist approached Seinfeld for a photograph.
“Sure!” Seinfeld responded.
The social media influencer had a peace sign and said “Free Palestine!” to Seinfeld, who is Jewish.
Instagrammer then asked if Seinfeld would “maybe” say it.
“I don’t care about Palestine,” Seinfeld said as he shook his head.
“That’s sad,” the activist replied.
The video was uploaded to Instagram by Subway DJ, a social media personality.
It appeared to be filmed when Seinfeld was in New York City for the 50th anniversary of “Saturday Night Live” that was filmed on Friday.
Seinfeld has voiced his support for Israel and its war against Hamas.
Mediaite reported Seinfeld responded to the incident.
“I lived and worked on a Kibbutz in Israel when I was 16 and I have loved our Jewish homeland ever since. My heart is breaking from these attacks and atrocities,” Seinfeld said.
“But we are also a very strong people in our hearts and minds. We believe in justice, freedom and equality,” he continued. “We survive and flourish no matter what. I will stand with Israel and the Jewish people.”
