First Lady Jill Biden is not too keen on the idea of politicians over a certain age taking mental competency tests.
During an interview with CNN, the first lady was asked about Republican presidential hopeful Nikki Haley’s call for a mental competency test for politicians over 75.
“It’s ridiculous,” Jill Biden responded.
The first lady was then asked, “Would your husband ever take one of those?”
She responded, “I mean, we haven’t even discussed — we would never even discuss something like that.”

During a campaign event in February, Haley said, “In the America I see, the permanent politician will finally retire.”
“We’ll have term limits for Congress and mandatory mental competency tests for politicians over 75 years old,” she added.

President Joe Biden has previously balked at the idea of taking a cognitive test.
When CBS News’ Errol Barnett asked the then-former vice president in 2020 if he had taken a cognitive test, he got a testy response.
“No, I haven’t taken a test,” he shot back. “Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man. That’s like saying to you, ‘Before you got on this program, did you take a test where you’re taking cocaine or not?’ What do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?”
"No, I haven't taken a test. Why the hell would I take a test? Come on, man,” Biden tells @errolbarnett, comparing questions about undergoing a cognitive exam to asking if a reporter had taken a drug test. “What do you think, huh? Are you a junkie?" pic.twitter.com/vbC6VchpHZ

Biden would be 82 at the end of his first term and 86 and the end of a potential second term.
He has stated he intends to run again but has not made it official.
During an interview with ABC’s David Muir, the president denied questions about whether his age would play a role in whether he runs for reelection.
However, he said, “It’s legitimate for people to raise issues about my age. It’s totally legitimate to do that. And the only thing I can say is watch me.”
