First Lady Jill Biden is sharing a hint about whether her husband, President Joe Biden, will seek reelection in 2024.
The president has stated he plans to run again. However, he has not officially said he will.
And during an interview with The Associated Press, Jill Biden revealed her husband is “pretty much” ready to announce his reelection campaign.
She also shared there are few details left to decide, except for the timing of the announcement.
“How many times does he have to say it for you to believe it?” the first lady asked.
She added, “He says he’s not done. He’s not finished what he’s started. And that’s what’s important.”
Jill Biden acknowledged she is a key adviser for the president because, “I’m his wife.”
She said, “Of course he’ll listen to me, because we’re a married couple.”
However, she stressed, “He makes up his own mind, believe me.”
The AP noted the president’s aides have stated they believe a campaign announcement will be made in April.
In Oct. 2022, Joe Biden told MSNBC’s Jonathan Capehart, “The reason I’m not making a judgment about formally running or not running, once I make that judgment, a whole series of regulations kick in and I have to be – I treat myself as a candidate from that moment on.”
“I have not made that formal decision, but it’s my intention – my intention to run again. And we have time to make that decision,” he added.
However, he has sparked questions about whether he will actually run again. In December, an attendee of an event at the White House shouted, “Four more years!”
The president responded, “I don’t know about that.”
In another instance, he brushed off a question about the 2024 election with a joke as he said, “There’s an election coming up? I didn’t know that.”
If Joe Biden does run again, he could face a primary challenger from a Democrat who sought the party’s nomination in 2020, as IJR reported.
