MS NOW host Joe Scarborough repeatedly lashed out on Monday over what he called an “obscene” and “outrageous” threat against Iran from President Donald Trump on Sunday.
Hours after the heroic rescue of a crew member U.S. fighter jet downed behind enemy lines on Easter Sunday, Trump posted on Truth Social with a warning to Iran to open the Strait of Hormuz or else. The message, which included an f-bomb and threated Iran with dire consequences, drew controversy online and on air. On Monday’s “Morning Joe” on MS NOW, Scarborough lashed out several times.
“You know, the muted response to a statement that would have been absolutely shocking and it would have shut down Washington had it been done by Joe Biden, by Barack Obama, by George W. Bush, by Bill Clinton, by anybody that sat in the Oval Office before Donald Trump shows you just how numb not only the Republican Party, but also a lot of members of the press have become to the most outrageous of statements,” Scarborough said. “This was the outrageous Easter morning post.”

“Again, on, on, the, the, the most blessed holiday for Christians across the globe, and, and the message that was being sent out again should have been insulting to the evangelicals who line up to support a president who doesn’t support a great deal of, of what they have at least claimed in the past have their values,” Scarborough continued. “But also, I think even more importantly for this discussion, he insulted Muslims across the world. And it’s the last thing we want to be doing right now with Iranians who actually at one point wanted America to rescue them from the hell that they’ve been living under since 1979.”
At another point in the show, Scarborough claimed Trump’s post showed his frustration with the fact that Iran has not simply given up in the conflict.
“Maybe we saw some of that frustration Easter morning with that absolutely obscene quote that again insults every Muslim across the planet and a good number of Christians across the planet,” Scarborough exclaimed.
In the post, Trump said that Iranian power plants and bridges would be struck if the Strait of Hormuz were not re-opened.
“Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!!” Trump posted Sunday morning. “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah.”
Pakistan reportedly presented a peace plan to the United States and Iran, according to USA Today.
