Trump Jr. Tells GOP Lawmakers Who 'Did Nothing To Stop the Steal': 'This Is Donald Trump's Republican Party'

Share

Donald Trump Jr. has a warning to Republicans who are not sufficiently supportive of President Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the presidential election results: You are not in line with the party.

Trump Jr. told supporters of his father who gathered in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, that their rally should serve as a warning to Congressional Republicans who oppose efforts to block the certification of the Electoral College vote that they are not aligned with the party.

“It should be a message to all the Republicans who have not been willing to actually fight, the people who did nothing to stop the steal,” he said.

He continued, “This gathering should send a message to them: This isn’t their Republican Party anymore. This is Donald Trump’s Republican Party. This is the Republican Party that will put America first.”

The “Save America” rally began shortly before Congress convened a joint session to formally certify the Electoral College vote. At the end of the normally ceremonial proceedings, Vice President Mike Pence will declare President-elect Joe Biden the winner of the election.

However, at least 12 Republican senators and dozens of House Republicans are expected to object to the Electoral College vote count.

Trump Jr. went on to encourage lawmakers to “fight” to block the certification of the electoral votes and overturn the results of the presidential election.

“That’s the message, these guys better fight for Trump,” he said as he appeared to suggest he will campaign against lawmakers who did not join efforts to overturn the election.

He continued, “Because if they’re not, guess what? I’m gonna be in your backyard in a couple of months… If you’re going to be the zero and not the hero, we’re coming for you, and we’re going to have a good time doing it.”

While Biden won the November 3 presidential election, Trump has refused to concede as he has falsely claimed Democrats are “trying to steal the White House.”
