Top US Cybersecurity Official Fired by Trump Calls Allegations of Voter Fraud ‘Farcical Claims’

Former top U.S. cybersecurity official Chris Krebs says there was no evidence of voting machines being manipulated in the 2020 presidential election.

Krebs, who was recently “terminated” by President Donald Trump, was asked about the allegations made by Trump’s re-election team that there was voter fraud in the election. CBS News’ Scott Pelley noted allegations of foreign interference.

Krebs told Pelley, “So all the votes — all votes in the United States of America are counted in the United States of America. I don’t — I don’t understand this claim. All votes in the United States of America are counted in the United States of America. Period.”

When asked about the allegation that voting machines were “corrupted by mysterious actors in Venezuela,” Krebs responded, “So again, there’s no evidence that any machine that I’m aware of has been manipulated by a foreign power. Period.”

Krebs was previously heading the Department of Homeland Security’s Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency.

He added, “We can go on and on with all the farcical claims alleging interference in the 2020 election, but the proof is in the ballots.”

“The recounts are consistent with the initial count, and to me, that’s further evidence, that’s confirmation that the systems used in the 2020 election performed as expected, and the American people should have 100% confidence in their vote.”

See Kreb’s comments below:

When Trump made known on Twitter that he fired Krebs, he accused the U.S. top election cybersecurity official of making a “highly inaccurate” statement when he said there “is no evidence that any voting system deleted or lost votes, changed votes, or was in any way compromised.”

Pelley also noted Trump’s tweet during the “60 Minutes” interview, “The recent statement by Chris Krebs on the security of the 2020 election was highly inaccurate in that there were massive improprieties and fraud.”

He asked Krebs, “Do you remember what the president said at the end of that tweet?” Krebs responded, “Oh, I was terminated? Yes. I recall that.”

When he was asked if he was surprised by Trump firing him, Krebs said, “I don’t know if I was necessarily surprised. It’s not how I wanted to go out.”

Some Republican Congress members came out in support of Krebs after Trump’s decision to fire him, including Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.), who said, “Chris Krebs did a really good job — as state election officials all across the nation will tell you — and he obviously should not be fired.”

  1. General. I think it’s part cult (his base) and part self serving (republican politicians). Either reason, it’s damaging to democracy and great for a fascist regime.

  2. Yeah, I saw that today.

The administration is working on brining back older forms of execution, but they didn’t include “drawn and quartered” among them. Don’t give them ideas. ;D

  3. It was disturbing to read in the National Review that a member of Trump’s legal team said during an interview on Howie Carr’s Newsmax show “[Krebs] should be drawn and quartered. He should be take out at dawn and shot.”

No, it wasn’t crazy Sidney Powell or Rudy Giuliani, or even Jenna. It was Joe diGenova. So, the answer is a resounding “NO”, there are no sane members of Trump’s legal team. It is embarrassing for the entire country that any POTUS could hire only a legal team that looks as if they are auditioning for casting in a remake of “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest.”

  4. Oh, and hold onto your seat until the day we see the same reaction coming from Cult-45 here on IJR. It looks as if Unreal Lee might be one of the first to turn.

  5. It’s very curious how the trump cultists love the people Typhoid Trump has in his administration but the minute they actually go against Typhoid by telling the truth, they’re scum!

  6. Harry, who is “Kreisler” and what is a swamp creature?

If you were referring to Chris Krebs, he worked for Microsoft and was hired by the Trump administration. Krebs’s professional work has focused on cybersecurity and risk management issues.

In March 2017, he became Senior Counselor to the Secretary of Homeland Security. In August 2017, he was appointed Assistant Secretary for Infrastructure Protection, and performed the duties of the Under Secretary of Homeland Security for National Protection and Programs until he was confirmed to that position on a permanent basis on June 15, 2018. In November 2018, the National Protection and Programs Directorate was replaced by the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA), and Krebs remained as director of the agency.

  7. “the Dems went after Trump for hacking the votes with Russias(sic) help! Dems you really need to stick to a story!” Bernadette
WHO were the Dems that went after Trump for hacking?? Russian interference to assist Trump was found cited by the entire U.S. Intel community, the Republican House controlled Intel Committee, the Rosentein ordered Mueller Investigation and the Senate Republican controlled Intel Committee.—But zero evidence was found of any change in voting by the Russians. Evidence was found that Russians did gain access to voter rolls but no evidence that they acted.

LOL…Trump did claim that “3-5 million illegals voted for Hillary.” He even established a commission headed by Kris Kobach to provide the evidence. Stephen Miller claimed he would return to the Sunday shows to provide the evidence. If Miller had such evidence, he did not provide the public NOR did he provide that evidence to Kobach. The commission was disbanded without finding evidence to support the allegation.

  8. I am confused, Mark.

How many of those “sworn affadavits and witnesses” were actually used and accepted in court cases? As far as I know, none of the CASES were accepted by courts.

  9. Krebs responded, “So again, there’s no evidence that any machine that I’m aware of has been manipulated by a foreign power. Period.” Uh, yeah. That is why there have been numerous sworn affadavits and witnesses that state otherwise.

  12. “Paper ballots and I.D.s should be used in the future” Bernadette

Bullshit. Look at the 30 or so countries around the world already using electronic or Internet voting methods. They are of different sizes, different regimes, different development stages, different in many ways. NONE of them have to put up with the crap coming out of the American Fascist Party and their idiot Cult-45. THAT is the main difference between all of the ones where electronic voting works and us, where idiots ACCUSE the system of faults but can never exposed it. Why would that be, Bernadette?

  13. Having been a cyber security expert for 35+ years, starting as a crypto officer in the Army on the Iron Curtain in the mid-1970’s, I would say this young punk is full of shit. This guy probably thought is was just fine that HRC had an unsecured server in her home closet with TOP SECRET classified data.

He is obviously not following the data compiled and presented in the 2 Powell lawsuits in Georgia and Michigan, on Wednesday.

There are going to be a lot of people with “egg on faces” in about a month. A LOT of people are going to go to jail…. unless, of course, Biden becomes president… then all this goes “under the rug.”

  14. interesting how other cyber analysts have a different opinion on the matter if a car, credit, or bank account can be hacked, why not votes? Whatever the outcome, it should be investigated. Paper ballots and I.D.s should be used in the future – a drivers license is an I.D.

  15. Paul, if you possess the evidence to support “massive improprieties and fraud,” please forward it to the Trump legal team as they are being laughed out of court.

  16. poor lor all you have is childish name calling and you expect to be taken seriously

  17. “Ben may wish to believe that he does not live in Trump world, but his voting record says otherwise.” Phyllis

We MUST remember details, such as this, so that we can elect better politicians. Better than Matt Gaetz, too.

  18. “Chris Krebs did a really good job — as state election officials all across the nation will tell you — and he obviously should not be fired.” Ben Sasse. Sorry, Ben, that is not what Trumpers wish to believe. Ben may wish to believe that he does not live in Trump world, but his voting record says otherwise.
