There appears to be more Trumps backing Robert F. Kennedy Jr. than actual Kennedys,
Lara Trump recently came out to support Robert F. Kennedy Jr. after his cousin, Caroline Kennedy, called him a “predator” on the eve of his confirmation hearing for secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to a report in The Hill.
Caroline Kennedy posted a video directed to senators in which she said her cousin was distorting his father’s legacy to “advance his own failed presidential campaign.”
Caroline Kennedy didn’t hold back, saying Robert F. Kennedy Jr. “lacks any relevant government, financial, management or medical experience” to allow him to lead the health agencies.
She added his “personal qualities” present an “even greater concern.”
“I have known Bobby my whole life; we grew up together. It’s no surprise that he keeps birds of prey as pets because he himself is a predator,” she wrote in the letter she read on the video.
“I watched his younger brothers and cousins follow him down the path of drug addiction,” she said. “His basement, his garage, and his dorm room were the centers where drugs were available, and he enjoyed showing off how he put baby chickens and mice in the blender to feed his hawks. It was often a perverse sense of despair and violence.”
Caroline Kennedy waited until now to speak out because she had been U.S. ambassador to Australia.
She also reluctant to criticize a family member.
Lara Trump, the president’s daughter-in-law, went on NewsNation’s “CUOMO” and called Caroline Kennedy’s disparaging remarks “sour grapes.”
“There is no doubt that the reason Caroline Kennedy came out with this video in the time frame that she did was because she was probably encouraged by the Democrats to do it,” Lara Trump said.
Despite the timing of Caroline Kennedy’s remarks, Lara Trump didn’t think they would have an effect on her cousin’s confirmation as he goes before the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.
“I think that everybody should watch the confirmation hearing, listen to the answers that he delivers, and take them at face value … So, I don’t think it will be any different,” she said.
