Former President Donald Trump’s daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, is sharing her thoughts on whether she is considering a Senate run.

During her appearance on Fox News Tuesday, host Sean Hannity asked Trump if she is “considering possibly running” for a North Carolina Senate seat.

“Yeah, well I absolutely am. Look, North Carolina, it’s not just my home state, it’s my home, it’s where all my family lives, it’s really the state that made me the woman I am today,” Trump responded.

She added, “Nothing would be a bigger honor for me than to represent the people of my home and of my home state, and it’s something I’m taking really seriously.”

Trump explained, “I get asked about it a lot and I really I’ve really been so flattered by so many of these polls that have come out, but really we’ve been through a lot as a family over the past not just year, but really past five years.”

She told Hannity she is “taking a step back, really assessing things, taking it very seriously but, you know, taking a little time to spend with my kids, with my husband.”

Trump reiterated she is “certainly” considering it, “Nothing would be a greater honor for me than to represent the people of my home state.”

She teased a Senate North Carolina run in November of 2020, as IJR previously reported.

“It would be an incredible thing,” she said during a Fox News appearance.

Trump continued, “It’s my home state, a state I love so much. And look, I think we need some strong Republicans in Washington D.C. We had a great run with the Senate and the House this go around, but let’s see what happens.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) argued during an appearance on Fox News last month there is a strong possibility Trump will be the nominee for the seat due to Sen. Richard Burr’s (R-N.C.) vote to convict the former president in his Senate impeachment trial.

“The biggest winner I think of this whole impeachment trial is Lara Trump. My dear friend Richard Burr… just made Lara Trump almost the certain nominee for the Senate seat in North Carolina to replace him if she runs,” Graham said.

He continued, “If she runs, I will certainly be behind her because I think she represents the future of the Republican Party.”
