Music icon Neil Sedaka was rushed to a Los Angeles hospital Friday morning after feeling unwell at his home, according to reports.
According to Page Six, the 83-year-old singer was transported by ambulance around 8 a.m. local time and remains hospitalized while recovering.
Details about his condition have not been disclosed.
Sedaka rose to prominence in the late 1950s and 1960s with a string of chart-topping hits, including “Breaking Up Is Hard to Do” and “Calendar Girl.”
Over the course of his career, he earned five Grammy nominations between 1959 and 1977 and was later inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
Before launching his solo success, Sedaka was an early member of The Tokens in the 1950s, prior to the group’s breakout with “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”
He has been married to his wife, Leba Strassberg, since 1962. The couple have two adult children, daughter Dara, a vocalist, and son Marc, a screenwriter.
Sedaka has collaborated professionally with both of his children. He recorded a duet, “Should’ve Never Let You Go,” with Dara and worked with Marc on children’s books.
In recent years, he has also shared glimpses of his family life on social media, posting videos featuring his grandson Michael and twin granddaughters Charlotte and Amanda.
He previously described his relationship with them as a “special kind of love.”
Sedaka and his grandson drew attention in 2025 for posting TikTok duet performances and recently appeared together on “Good Day New York,” where the singer praised Michael’s deep knowledge of his catalog.
“He knows all of the forgotten children, the neglected children — the songs that were on albums — and he knows all of them,” Sedaka said during the appearance.
The performer remains hospitalized as fans await further updates on his condition.
