Oscar-winning actor Matthew McConaughey is calling for unity amid the coronavirus outbreak.

The “Lincoln Lawyer” actor took to Twitter on Tuesday with a 90-second video message with a caption that reads, “Every red light eventually turns green,” to his 2.5 million followers.

In the video, McConaughey addressed the unpredictable circumstances surrounding the coronavirus outbreak and offered a few words of optimism for his fans. He also urged everyone to not succumb to paranoia and focus on taking the proper precautions for safety purposes.

“Hey everybody, McConaughey here, just want to say that in these crazy times that we’re in with the coronavirus, let’s take care of ourselves and each other,” McConaughey began.”

“Let’s not go to the lowest common denominator and get paranoid. Let’s do our due diligence, take the precautions we need to take care of ourselves and those around us.”

He went on to discuss the coronavirus describing it as a “faceless” and “raceless, sexless, non-denominational and bipartisan” enemy. The actor also noted how much people depend on each other.

“Right now, more than ever before, we’re all more dependent on each other than we ever have been. But we have an enemy in coronavirus that is faceless, that is raceless, sexless, non-denominational and bipartisan and it’s an enemy that we all agree we want to beat. We want to beat ‘em and we’re gonna to beat ‘em.”

He also offered an example of the symbolism between red lights and green lights.

“So, in this time when people are going to move on, the economy is going to be in shambles for who knows how long, there is a green light on the other side of this red light that we’re in right now. I believe that green light is going to be built upon the values that we can enact right now.”

McConaughey concluded with a silver lining and a few words of advice for his followers. He urged everyone to “make some lemonade out of this lemon.”

“So, yes, let’s see if we can make some lemonade out of this lemon that we’re living in the middle of,” McConaughey said, adding, “Turn a red light into a green light and just keep living.”

McConaughey’s video comes amid reports about the coronavirus outbreak. Over the last two weeks, the United States has seen an uptick in reported cases. There are more than 7,000 positive coronavirus cases in the United States, as of early Wednesday afternoon.
