Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) said during an anti-DOGE protest in Los Angeles, that President Donald Trump should investigate and possibly deport First Lady Melania Trump.
According to Fox News, Waters went on a rage-fueled, expletive ladened rant during the rally.
Upon taking the Oval Office in January, Trump signed an executive order that banned birthright citizenship, clarifying the 14th Amendment “All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside.”
Fox News further reported it was this action by Trump that raised the ire of Waters, who further called out Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk and hi involvement in DOGE and as an adviser to the president.
“We are here because we are not going to let Trump, we’re not going to let Elon Musk, his co-president, or anybody else take the United States Constitution down,” Waters said. “When he [Trump] talks about birthright, and he’s going to undo the fact that the Constitution allows those who are born here, even if the parents are undocumented, they have a right to stay in America.”
Waters then took aim at Melania Trump and her parents, questioning whether or not they were documented.
“If he wants to start looking so closely to find those who were born here and their parents were undocumented, maybe he ought to first look at Melania,” Waters said.”We don’t know whether or not her parents were documented. And maybe we better just take a look.”
Melania Trump became a U.S. citizen in 2006 and was born in the former Yugoslavia. She also sponsored her parents when they immigrated to the U.S., eventually becoming U.S. citizens themselves.
“We don’t care how much money you have Elon, we don’t give a damn about DOGE,” Waters said.

In response to Waters’ comments, Musk took to social media platform X, and said Waters’ “crimes” will “catch up to her.”
“At some point, the many crimes of Maxine Waters will catch up to her,” Musk wrote.
