Melania Trump Pens Letter to Putin, President Hand Delivers

WASHINGTON, DC - JULY 04: First lady Melania Trump listens as U.S. President Donald Trump (not pictured) delivers remarks during an Independence Day military family picnic on the South Lawn of the White House on July 04, 2025 in Washington, DC. At the picnic President Trump signed the One, Big Beautiful Bill Act into law after Congress passed the bill yesterday following weeks of negotiations with Republican holdouts. The bill makes permanent President Donald Trump's 2017 tax cuts, increase spending on defense and immigration enforcement and temporarily cut taxes on tips, while cutting funding for Medicaid, food assistance and other social safety net programs. First lady Melania Trump wrote a letter to Russian President Vladimir Putin about what children are going through one Ukraine.

The letter was delivered by President Donald Trump when he and Putin met Friday in Alaska to talk about a possible peace deal between Russia and Ukraine, Reuters reported.

The first lady wrote about the plight of children in Ukraine and what Putin can do to help the situation.

“Dear President Putin, Every child shares the same quiet dreams in their heart, whether born randomly into a nation’s rustic countryside or a magnificent city-center. They dream of love, possibility, and safety from danger,” she wrote, per the Gateway Pundit.

“As parents, it is our duty to nurture the next generation’s hope. As leaders, the responsibility to sustain our children extends beyond the comfort of a few,” she continued.

“Undeniably, we must strive to paint a dignity-filled world for all—so that every soul may wake to peace, and so that the future itself is perfectly guarded,” the first lady wrote. “A simple yet profound concept, Mr. Putin, as I am sure you agree, is that each generation’s descendants begin their lives with a purity—an innocence which stands above geography, government, and ideology.”

“Mr. Putin, you can singlehandedly restore their melodic laughter. In protecting the innocence of these children, you will do more than serve Russia alone—you serve humanity itself,” she wrote.

“Such a bold idea transcends all human division, and you, Mr. Putin, are fit to implement this vision with a stroke of the pen today,” she wrote. “It is time,” Melania Trump concluded.

Ukraine says the abductions of 10s of thousands of Ukrainian children who are then taken to Russia or Russian-occupied territory are war crimes, Reuters reported.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he was grateful for the letter and for her “sincere attention and efforts to bring forcibly deported Ukrainian kids back. This is a true act of humanism.”

“This is a true act of humanism,” Ukraine’s foreign minister Andrii Sybiha continued in his post on X.

President @ZelenskyyUA had a meaningful and productive conversation with President Trump. We are grateful to the U.S. for its engagement and continued commitment to supporting Ukraine and advancing peace.

It is very important that the leaders of Ukraine and the United States… https://t.co/F5gFhyopvq
