The Fathom Events website crashed after fans of the biblical drama “The Chosen” rushed to buy tickets for an event.
According to the movie theater website, the season three finale of the show is being shown in theaters.
“In episodes 7 and 8, Simon and Eden face marital crisis, Matthew’s faith takes a turn, and the thousands of people following Jesus grow restless … until a boy brings some loaves and fishes,” the website states.
Earlier this week, the show shared on its Facebook page the demand for tickets caused the site to crash.
“Unfortunately, the demand for tickets for ‘The Chosen’ season finale crashed the Fathom Events website. It is now working again, so you can get tickets for Eps 7/8 at Fathom or your usual ticketing sites,” the show stated.
Additionally, the show noted the theatrical release will not affect the streaming release.
“Episode 7 livestream will be Sunday, Feb 5 and Episode 8 livestream will be TUESDAY, Feb 7,” the show explained.
***Note: Our plans for the streaming release will NOT be delayed by the theatrical. Episode 7 livestream will be Sunday, Feb 5 and Episode 8 livestream will be TUESDAY, Feb 7. (2/2)

Fathom Events CEO Ray Nutt told Fox News the website was temporarily down due to the demand but it quickly restarted and was able to assist “tens of thousands of fans” with buying tickets.
“After reading the comments from fans on social media, it is evident that they are very excited about seeing episodes 7 and 8 in theaters with their friends and family,” Nutt said.
Fathom Events noted to the outlet the show has seen significant success in theaters.
“Fathom’s top two best-selling events have come from ‘The Chosen’ with ‘Christmas with The Chosen: The Messengers’ grossing over $13.5 million in 2021 and ‘The Chosen Season 3 episodes 1 and 2’ grossing over $14 million, placing second in gross box office on the Friday of its opening weekend,” Fathom Events said to Fox News.
According to the show’s website, it is the “largest fan-supported show in history.”
“The Chosen” premiered in 2019 and tells the story of the life of Jesus Christ as well as his disciples.
