MSNBC legal analyst Andrew Weissmann is admitting he has a bit of a “man crush” on the judge presiding of former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial.
During a segment on Wednesday, Weissmann said of Judge Juan Merchan, “I have, like, a man crush on him.”
“He is such a great judge that it’s hard to see that the jurors wouldn’t have the same impression,” he continued. “If you looked at a dictionary for like judicial temperament, that’s what you’d get.”

Several users on X noted Weissman was a lead prosecutor in former Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election:
While Weissmann praised the judge, Trump wrote on Truth Social, “KANGAROO COURT! A CORRUPT AND CONFLICTED JUDGE. RELIANCE ON COUNSEL (ADVISE OF COUNSEL) NOT ALLOWED BY MERCHAN, A FIRST. HIS RULINGS, ON A CASE THAT SHOULD, ACCORDING TO ALL LEGAL SCHOLARS AND EXPERTS, NEVER HAVE BEEN BROUGHT, HAVE MADE THIS A BIDEN PUSHED WITCH HUNT. THERE WAS NO CRIME, EXCEPT FOR THE BUM THAT GOT CAUGHT STEALING FROM ME! IN GOD WE TRUST!”
